TRANSFORMATIVE LIFE COACHING (TLC)

(Discontinued until further notice)

Mindwell brings Transformational Life Coaching (TLC) to Mentoring Men’s Movement's incarcerated and recently released counterparts. TLC is an amalgamation and synthesis of a 30-year healing odyssey of studying and exploring some of the world's best practices in healing, spirituality, and transformation.  The TLC program has been refined to be practical, useful, effective, culturally sensitive and relevant for people of color - but not exclusive to people of color.  TLC is taught as a holistic four-pronged approach to, not only becoming a productive member of society, but a bridge to ascend to one’s higher self. The four prongs to this end are: physical, mental/emotional, spiritual, and nutritional. Participants will come to understand how each prong is intricately connected and interdependent of the other.

YOUTH MENTORING: SIMBA/LION KINGS

(Online until further notice)

Simba means young lion in kiSwahili, a language spoken in the Democratic Republic of Congo, East Africa and along the eastern coastal shores and archipelagos in the Motherland. Simba/Lion Kings is a boys enrichment program, with an African centered approach to social emotional learning. With the proper conditions and training a boy will mature into a man, capable of sustaining a family, his community – his pride.

M3 mentors/hosts weekly youth gatherings and infuses them with the cultural aspects of The Virtues of MAAT, The Nguzo Saba, and a parade of ancestors to inspire, while utilizing various approved M3 Program Curriculums. This module was created by people of color with a focus on the culture and learning style of boys of color.

SIMBA/Lion Kings promotes self-awareness, self-development and community service.

By participating in SIMBA/Lion Kings, Boys Enrichment Program our young lions' virtuous character begins to emerge while their magnificence shines.

This invaluable engagement with our sons is coupled with annual facilitator’s training and a monthly professional development series. The goal is to produce men that can deliver quality social–emotional learning for our sons.

Simba Lion Kings is active within the Emery Unified School District and the San Francisco Unified School District. We have two elementary school prides, one middle school pride and one in high school.

How M3 Defines a Young Lion?

A young lion is a little boy, especially a boy of color in the 3rd through the 12th grade.  He is kinesthetic, verbal, living in a challenging environment, struggling with “being the boss of himself”, but wanting to be more.

How M3 Defines a Lion King?

A Lion King is a man, particularly a man of color. He is in the ever-evolving process of manhood. A Lion King is full of virtue! He understands the urgency and is is committed to... growing men. He is committed to his personal growth.  He is vibrant, positive, oral in his approach, consistent in his discipline, and kinesthetic in his delivery. A Lion King is a bridge-builder who overcame a challenging childhood. This lion wants to share his knowledge and like the young lion, he once was, wants to be more.

What is a Pride?

A Pride, is a group of lions that form a social unit. The Simba pride gathers for three hours weekly. Our pride is our family. Our pride is our community. We are brothers - I am my brother’s keeper. Because we teach the virtue and majesty of the lion, it is only fitting that we call ourselves a pride.
